Safeguarding
Everyone who comes to Sancta Humanitas should be safe, and feel safe. Our basic policy is simple:
- Our parish priest holds an enhanced DBS check.
- Everyone is treated with dignity and respect, whoever they are.
- What you tell us stays confidential, unless someone, especially a child or vulnerable adult, may be at risk of harm. Then we will act to keep them safe, and will tell you first wherever we can.
- Where there is a risk of harm, we will pass it to the proper authorities.
- In an emergency, call 999.
Oversight
Our parish priest is ordained and licensed by the Open Episcopal Church, and ministers under the authority of its Archbishop's Council, subject to the Church's canons, code of practice and safeguarding policies.
Concerns about the parish or its priest can be raised with the Open Episcopal Church under its Complaints, Conduct and Safeguarding Policy.
Ceremonies and the law
A wedding, blessing or commitment ceremony we lead is not, on its own, a legal marriage, and a naming or baptism does not register a birth. GOV.UK explains how to marry legally.
